The Queen Is Dead

Darin Read at Queen Ann.
Here's some bad news from Scott Matual. The fact this place even existed was amazing, and for a while the community was really behind it. I only got to ride it once, and it was amazing. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
"Well, I’m sad to say that this past week, queen anne bmx in Seattle was plowed. The city came in and put up signs and gave us 30 days, as they determined that the hill side was prone to slide (from the jumps being built), and said it was unsafe and that they had to remove it.
They came in, armed w/ picks and shovels, and tore it down by hand. It took 4 guys 2 days to kill the 10,000 hours Rama Fire, Chris Eimen, and others put in.
We had a jam on Feb 17th, and I must say, it was unreal, w/ over 30 riders there. All kinds of legendary NW riders, like P. Kintner, DR, Rama Fire, Chris Eimen, Seth, BG, Brian Taylor, Drug, Adam Provo, myself and many others came out an rode the trails on one last sunny Saturday in February. Even BMX superstars showed up like Jimmy Levan and even Ron 2-Hip Wilkerson was there. We rode, laughed, heckled, and had a great time. Thanks to Rama and the crew there, it was really a special place to ride, let alone just hang and enjoy the beauty. Thanks for the memories.
HereR17;s a blurry pic I took of DR getting his flattie 3 on....7’ out of a 9’ dirt spine w/ Downtown Seattle through the trees that is…
Keep on digging..Scott Matual"
